a brown-spotted, yellow 1983 Ford Econovan

we call it, BONGO. We had to take a train to one of the many suburbs surrounding Sydney, a place called Wahroonga... it's about a 30 minute train ride from Bondi. The guy we bought it from told me a little story about our van over the phone, before we went to see it. This little story made me wanna buy it straight away. Mick (that's the guys name) had been the second owner of this precious yellow van. He bought it from an older man last christmas, who had given it up because he just couldn't handle driving a manual car anymore. The older gentleman bought it new back in 1983. He took rather good care of it, or so it seems. He did love it very profoundly... anytime it got some sorta chip or scratch in the paint, he would apply this brown kinda rust-protecting paint. and as a result... we have this brown-spotted van that looks real old and strange... it's endearing when you hear the story... so after taking it for a test drive... we bought it. 1100 Australian dollars later, we had to now DRIVE back from Wahroonga through Sydney and back to Coogee. This drive is about an hour... but for those of you who may have forgotten... Aussies drive on the opposite side of the road, as compared to us Canadians. The driver's seat and passenger's seat are reversed on all Australian cars. In addition to this, the van's gearshift is on the wheel and so it turned out to be quite a challenge to embark upon this little drive home of ours... well, it was a challenge for alexi, who drives... cause i don't... teehee....
